Having engaged members is essential for a thriving HOA community. But what can you do to encourage the homeowners in your association to be more invested? Let’s talk about this.
Members are more invested if they feel like they’re a part of a community. They want to feel like their voice matters. They want great amenities. And they’ll be more loyal if they have good relationships within the community. There are a few ways you can build upon all of these things.
When you take time to listen to what community members have to say, it speaks volumes. Give members the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings. Make sure they have contact information so they can easily get a hold of someone. You may even want to post a suggestion box in the community where residents can submit feedback. It’s a great way to learn what works and what doesn’t.
Give your members options for involvement. Host events that members of the community are interested in. Form committees for members to join and head up. This can even take some work off of the HOA board. Look for volunteers when you host events. Keep a record of previous volunteers so you can connect with them again.
Make sure to highlight those community members that are making a difference. You can write a blurb about them in your monthly newsletter or make a mention of their efforts in your next meeting. Thank these volunteers for all of their hard work and dedication.
You can encourage more engagement by providing information through multiple avenues. Create a portal on your website with key information and upcoming events that members have access to. Publish a monthly e-newsletter to keep them up to date on community happenings.
Let’s not forget about new members either. Give them a warm welcome when they join. Make sure they’re knowledgeable on how the association works, what amenities are available to them, and the rules.
